Pacific Electric Railway 1947-49
These buses were GM
two-stroke diesel powered "Yellow Coaches". They had two speed semi-automatic
transmissions, which a driver shifted by momentarily taken his foot off the accelerator pedal.
This one is at the downtown Subway Terminal. It is headed for Santa Monica via Olympic
Blvd, the Beverly Hills Station, and Santa Monica Blvd. The seats were quite
comfortable. The area over the wheel well behind the driver was partially enclosed and
reserved for passenger parcels, a feature which one does not see on most current transit
buses.
