Pacific Electric Railway 1947-49
The Santa Monica Airline was a freight route which ran along Exposition Blvd
near the Coliseum and the present I-10 to Santa Monica. Its franchise required
at least one passenger car per day both ways. I used to ride it to West L.A.
from USC football games at the Coliseum. I asked the crew to pose for this shot when
we stopped for the derail. A tinted version is displayed
next.
